Eighteenth Sunday after Pentecost September 23, 2018

September 23, 2018

Welcome to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church & School!
In the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ, we welcome you to St. Mark’s.  We especially welcome our guests who have joined us today.
We pray you will be strengthened by the good news about God’s grace, love, and forgiveness to us through Jesus.

Worship Focus: People in the kingdom of God do things a little differently than the rest of the world. We live to serve. And how could we not? Look at the fruit it brings and the compassion that drives it. Look at how our Savior was a servant and what that brought for the world. Yes, God indeed has it right: the greatest is the one who becomes a servant of all.

Presiding Minister: Pastor Brock Groth
Musical Accompanist: Rosemarie Boushek

Seventeenth Sunday after Pentecost
September 16, 2018

Welcome to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church & School!
In the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ, we welcome you to St. Mark’s.  We especially welcome our guests who have joined us today.
We pray you will be strengthened by the good news about God’s grace, love, and forgiveness to us through Jesus.

Focus of Today’s Service: Have you experienced any ‘heat’ because of your Christ-centered faith? God’s Word is clear on how we are to live this life, what He has done to save us from our sins, and with what we can expect at times by living life His way as well as when we profess Jesus as the Savior. Tolerance is a big buzz word, but is it put into practice on both sides of the aisle? Let us not be surprised by how people react concerning the Christ and toward you who believe in Him. Continue to confess Him as the Savior, it is good for the soul.

Presiding Minister: Pastor Jon Kolander
Musical Accompanist: Lisa Thiesfeldt

Sixteenth Sunday after Pentecost
September 9, 2018

Welcome to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church & School!
In the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ, we welcome you to St. Mark’s.  We especially welcome our guests who have joined us today.
We pray you will be strengthened by the good news about God’s grace, love, and forgiveness to us through Jesus.
Worship Focus: Who is God and what is he like? We see from creation and his Word that he’s powerful and he’s caring. As believers in Jesus, we recognize the same power and care at work in our divine Savior. These truths comfort our hearts in times of hardship, difficulty, and sadness as we recognize and remember the heart of our God for us, his people.

Fifteenth Sunday after Pentecost

Fifteenth Sunday after Pentecost
September 2, 2018

Welcome to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church & School!
In the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ, we welcome you to St. Mark’s.  We especially welcome our guests who have joined us today.
We pray you will be strengthened by the good news about God’s grace, love, and forgiveness to us through Jesus.
Worship Focus: When you are talking with someone what can become annoying to you during that conversation? How about being interrupted? How about when they look beyond you? How about when you ask them a question regarding the topic and the person responds with a grunt or an answer unrelated to the conversation? Listening is a skill, and it is an action of respect. We want people to listen to us, so we ought to listen to them (circumstances may vary on this). When God talks, which is all the time … thankfully, we need to listen; and such listening is to lead to action, action that will glorify Him and be a blessing to us. More on this in our worship …
Presiding Minister: Pastor Jon Kolander
Accompanist: Rosemarie Boushek
Vocalists: Jenny Kolander

Worship Focus: We know that our God has given us a lot of eternal blessings. But sometimes we can focus on and even worship the temporal, earthly things in this life instead of our God and Savior. As always in the season of Pentecost, we look for the Holy Spirit’s help in growing in our faith, and today we do that by remembering the eternal blessings and promises our Lord gives us.

Children Sing - Ninth Sunday after Pentecost

July 22, 2018
Welcome to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church & School!
In the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ, we welcome you to St. Mark’s.  We especially welcome our guests who have joined us today.
We pray you will be strengthened by the good news about God’s grace, love, and forgiveness to us through Jesus.

Worship Focus: Everyone wants your attention: politicians, advertisers, pastors, etc. Who should you listen to and why? Depends on the situation and on the message. The Bible often uses the phrase ‘sheep without a shepherd’ to describe the people of this world. Why is this a fitting description? What is His solution on who to listen to and why this is to be the case? Reflect on these questions as we hear words from Scripture which remind us of the fact that God keeps His promises. One of those promises is to keep us from being like sheep without a shepherd.
