Lord, Teach Me Your Way - Lenten Service

March 20, 2019

Lakeside Lutheran High School. A Cappella Choir California Tour

Second Sunday of Lent March 17, 2019

March 17, 2019

Welcome to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church & School
In the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ, we welcome you to St. Mark’s. We especially welcome our guests who have joined us today. We pray you will be strengthened by the good news about God’s grace, love, and forgiveness to us through Jesus.

Worship Focus: If someone you were familiar with asked you where your home is, how would answer? Would you give the community you live in, would you include the house number, would you say heaven? If you answer heaven, what kind of look might you get? But you would not be wrong as heaven, thanks to Jesus, is the place our home is ultimately located. And because of this how we go about our life ought to reflect this. To help with that, we are here today.

Presiding Minister: Pastor Jon Kolander
Accompanist: Lisa Theisfeldt

THREE WORDS OF TRUTH

March 13, 2019

---- Mid-Week Service ------
Season of Lent
THREE WORDS OF TRUTH

Welcome to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church & School
In the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ, we welcome you to St. Mark’s. We especially welcome our guests who have joined us today. We pray you will be strengthened by the good news about God’s grace, love, and forgiveness to us through Jesus.

Sermon Focus … Sermon Focus … “I Am He” based on John 18:3-9
3 So Judas came to the garden, guiding a detachment of soldiers and some officials from the chief priests and the Pharisees. They were carrying torches, lanterns and weapons. 4 Jesus, knowing all that was going to happen to him, went out and asked them, “Who is it you want?” 5 “Jesus of Nazareth,” they replied. “I am he,” Jesus said. (And Judas the traitor was standing there with them.) 6 When Jesus said, “I am he,” they drew back and fell to the ground. 7 Again he asked them, “Who is it you want?”
“Jesus of Nazareth,” they said. 8 Jesus answered, “I told you that I am he. If you are looking for me, then let these men go.” 9 This happened so that the words he had spoken would be fulfilled: “I have not lost one of those you gave me.

First Sunday in Lent

March 10, 2019

Welcome to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church & School
In the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ, we welcome you to St. Mark’s. We especially welcome our guests who have joined us today. We pray you will be strengthened by the good news about God’s grace, love, and forgiveness to us through Jesus.

Worship Focus: Ash Wednesday began our journey to the cross with a reminder of God’s wrath upon sin and that we are but dust and ashes without our holy God. This journey of repentance continues with a strong reminder that our journey became Christ’s journey. Where we have failed and have sinned, Jesus triumphed and was victorious! He is our champion against the assaults of sin and Satan. The fact that his victory is our victory fuels us for the rest of our Lenten journey to the cross and empty tomb

Season of Lent
REPENTANCE & RENEWAL

Welcome to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church & School
In the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ, we welcome you to St. Mark’s. We especially welcome our guests who have joined us today. We pray you will be strengthened by the good news about God’s grace, love, and forgiveness to us through Jesus.

Sermon Focus … “Is It I?” based on Matthew 26:20-25
20 When evening came, Jesus was reclining at the table with the Twelve. 21 And while they were eating, he said, “Truly I tell you, one of you will betray me.” 22 They were very sad and began to say to him one after the other, “Surely you don’t mean me, Lord?” 23 Jesus replied, “The one who has dipped his hand into the bowl with me will betray me. 24 The Son of Man will go just as it is written about him. But woe to that man who betrays the Son of Man! It would be better for him if he had not been born.” 25 Then Judas, the one who would betray him, said, “Surely you don’t mean me, Rabbi?”
Jesus answered, “You have said so.”

Transfiguration Sunday
March 3, 2019

Welcome to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church & School
In the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ, we welcome you to St. Mark’s. We especially welcome our guests who have joined us today. We pray you will be strengthened by the good news about God’s grace, love, and forgiveness to us through Jesus.

Worship Focus: Do you have that place in your life where you can just relax? Maybe it is your home? Maybe it is a place you like to vacation? Do you think it could be at church? At church, during worship, we ought to see the Person of Jesus Christ very clearly. As we see and hear Jesus through the Word, His message of peace by way of what He has accomplished is why church is a good place to be.

Children Sing - Seventh Sunday after the Epiphany

February 24, 2019

Seventh Sunday after the Epiphany
February 24, 2019
Welcome to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church & School
In the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ, we welcome you to St. Mark’s. We especially welcome our guests who have joined us today. We pray you will be strengthened by the good news about God’s grace, love, and forgiveness to us through Jesus.

Worship Focus: Loving someone takes effort, and sadly it takes even more effort for us to love our enemies. So leave it to the light Christ’s glory to reveal yet again what it takes to have a loving heart. This morning we’ll celebrate that God has graciously forgiven even us, and that this others-focused love now inspires us to have the same for those around us, especially those we see as our “enemies.”

Sixth Sunday of Epiphany February 17, 2019

February 17, 2019

Worship Focus: Do you have any weaknesses? Are you going through any hardships currently? You are not alone. Such a thought may not comfort you; but God does have encouraging words for us to keep in mind as ‘life’ seems to be against us. Since this is the case, we want to explore how we can be strong and uplifted in the face of our weakest moments

Fifth Sunday After the Epiphany February 10, 2019

February 10, 2019

Worship Focus: For weeks now we’ve been talking about Christ’s “epiphany,” the light of who he is being revealed to the world. Today we look at a very humbling and joyous thought: We’ve been called to be messengers of that light. Once more we’ll get to appreciate the tool God has given us to use, that is, his Word, and we’ll get to take in the fact that he’s graciously given that privilege to us sinful people.

Fourth Sunday after the Epiphany February 3, 2019

February 3, 2019

Focus of Today’s Service: Are you a fan of potholes? Such holes in the road can keep us from reaching our destination, recall the damage done to cars on I-5 not too long ago. Such holes can be a source of stress. To keep people and vehicles safe, the holes need to be filled in. Think of the ‘potholes’ which get in the way of sharing Jesus with people? What are such and how can we proceed with Jesus in light of your answers? The Word for today speaks of potholes and solutions.
