Worship Focus: The Easter joy continues though this earthly life may not always be filled with joyous moments. The reason for our Easter joy is solid. God has made sure of that through prophecies, witnesses, tests of time, and more. So during the not so joyous parts of life, and there will be plenty of them over the course of our lifetime, continue to grab hold of the Easter joy which helps us keep the big picture in view. And the way to grab on is by fueling up with the Word of God … which is why we are here. Let us worship our God as He keeps the reason for joy in our hearts.

Worship Focus: This is a day of mixed emotions as we pause to remember why Jesus had to die; it was not for anything that He had done wrong, but it has everything to do with what we have done wrong. On the flip side, because He was willing to give Himself in this way, to the point of death, we have forgiveness for all that we have done wrong; no other payment for sin is needed. With that in mind we focus once again on the why, the result, and the what now associated with Good Friday.
Presiding Minister: Pastor Jon Kolander
Musical Accompanist: Rosemarie Bousheck

THREE WORDS OF TRUTH
Welcome to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church & School
In the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ, we welcome you to St. Mark’s. We especially welcome our guests who have joined us today. We pray you will be strengthened by the good news about God’s grace, love, and forgiveness to us through Jesus.
WHAT IS MAUNDY THURSDAY? Maundy Thursday receives its name from the Latin phrase novum mandatum, which means, “new command.” It refers to Jesus’ words which he spoke to his disciples on this night, “A new command I give you: Love one another” (John 13:34). The institution of the Lord’s Supper on that night displays the depth of Jesus’ love for us and gives power to the Church to live out his command.
SERMON Based on Matthew 26:26-28
